Terms of Service

Last updated: July 17, 2026

These are the terms for using muffl. We've tried to write them the way we'd want to read them — plainly, and only as long as they need to be.

Acceptance of these terms

By creating an account or using muffl., you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

What muffl. is

muffl. is a tool for composing short, no-pressure "quiet update" postcards to send to people in your professional life — professors, mentors, former colleagues, and anyone else you don't want to lose touch with.

muffl. does not send email on your behalf. Logging a muffl. generates a card image, which you paste into a draft in your own Gmail or Outlook account and send yourself. The actual delivery of your message happens through your own email provider, entirely outside our control — we can't guarantee it arrives, and we're not a party to that email.

Accounts

You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for anything that happens under your account. Use a real email address you control — it's how your Received view and any account communication works.

Acceptable use

Don't use muffl. to:

We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate this.

Your content

You own what you write. By using muffl., you give us permission to store your card content and display it back to you, and to the intended recipient, exactly as the product is designed to do — that's it. We don't use your messages for anything else, including training any kind of model.

No guarantee of delivery or response

"No response expected" is a design choice, not a promise about how any individual recipient will behave — they're free to reply if they want to. Likewise, because the final send happens in your own email client rather than through us, we can't guarantee a card was delivered, opened, or read. The "seen" indicator reflects whether the card's public link was opened, which is the closest signal we have.

Free features and future paid features

muffl. is currently free to use. We may introduce paid plans or usage limits in the future. If we do, we'll tell you clearly before anything you're currently using becomes paid or restricted.

Termination

You can stop using muffl. and ask us to delete your account at any time (see the Privacy Policy for how). We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Service provided "as is"

muffl. is an early-stage, independently-built product. We do our best to keep it reliable, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted uptime or that it will be bug-free, and it's provided without warranties of any kind.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, muffl. and its creator aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including a message not reaching its recipient, since delivery happens outside our systems.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Changes to these terms

We'll update these terms as muffl. changes, and update the date at the top when we do. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
